It worked ok in QEMU, but QEMU hasn't worked for me in a while. It has to hook Windows components, like the task manager, to "lock down" the computer, therefore, it will install, but never start up when run in Wine. To address other Concerns, no it doesn't run in Wine. Personally, I think the admin for this thing here is either in denial of being ripped off on their contract with their limited funds, angry for posting this on a public website, or both. My school's IT department doesn't really care about my views on the matter, but hopefully some other schools will read it with an open mind. I wrote an article on this program, including the ideas of VMs/second_computers/phones/group_tests, locking out Linux, OS instability from its bugs, ways of running IM clients in the background with it, etc. I gave up on most college because either test out of the class, didn't have what I wanted to take, or seriously wasn't what I signed up for. And I mean your kinda smart person maybe they'll see it your way if not maybe just ditch the class and try to test out of it, they don't really seem to know what they're doing but like have some patience. I mean I'm glad ubuntu doesn't run really gay apps like that. In short might want to explain these problems to your teacher try to use some reverse psychology of how its not hard enough against cheating rather than lamenting on difficulties you have been having. I once made the excuse using anything that wasn't formed with peer review is against my religion as an atheist but whatever you want to say. but you don't like open source systems nvm then don't try holding me responsible. Perhaps if I had the source or knew what it was doing it would be better oh. If your failing to send in stuff just say well heck I don't know what that program you gave me is doing its just not sending it in. Is it like everyday assignments you go through this for? I never understood teachers who graded you on how many times you want to wipeout/crash before you understand something the more the BETTER! That's just standard safety in learning fail fail and fail some more until you've made all 3000 some ways how not to make a light bulb. Most colleges have a special place to go for testing though if you really wanted to show that you aren't cheating on things. Yes I think this program will probably work virtualized based on that assumption. I find that highly prejudice against low income people and their computer accessibility. Wow as if most people don't have more than one computer to cheat on lol. Just thought I would warn all those students out their that love Ubuntu. I've tried to get Wine to run the browser but it doesn't work. This is really troubling because I would love to use Ubuntu exclusively but am unable to do so until I'm done with school. Which means you'll earn an F! for trying to support open source! So, if you only have Ubuntu on your system you're screwed because without the LockDown Browser you can't take your exam. It does this in order to stop people from cheating. For instance, Pidgin, FireFox, Word, etc. The LockDown Browser supports Windows and Mac but not Linux! When launched the browser automatically shuts down unnecessary applications that may be running. My school now requires me to take the test with a new web browser called: "LockDown Browser" by Respondus. The problems comes when I try to take an online test. This is especially true when you take an Online course.įor the three years that I've been a MN student I haven't had a problem using Ubuntu until recently. The reason they are requiring this is because more and more classes have online exams. Major Universities such as the University of Minnesota and other MN schools now require students to have a Windows OS.

The sound quality would be like listening outdoors, where only the direct sound from a source is heard (assuming soft ground and an absence of nearby buildings). It can be a tricky balance for an acoustic designer – too much absorption, and the room will sound dead. This absorption can be a specialist product such as those made of mineral wool, open cell foam, or recycled fibrous material like paper-waste, but absorption can also be provided by more commonplace object such as curtains, sofas or carpets. One solution to reflections is to apply absorption to the wall, which turns acoustic energy into heat – this is a kind of damping. There are two basic forms of acoustic treatment to deal with reflections: absorption and diffusion. These later reflections all blend in together, and cause reverberation. The higher-order the reflection, the further the wave has travelled and the later they arrive. Second order reflections are like shots played off two cushions, third order off three etc etc. You can imagine the waves bouncing around like balls on a pool table. In small rooms, first order reflections tend to be loud and arrive very soon after the direct sound. The diagram below shows a plan view of a small rectangular room, highlighting a first order (involving only one reflecting surface) reflection from the top wall in red. (Timbre is a French word which describes sound quality). These reflections can cause the sound to be coloured, or to put it another way, the timbre of the sound will change. The direct sound arriving at your ears directly from your hands is quickly followed by reflections from the walls, ceiling and floor. Try this experiment – go into a small bare room like a bathroom and make noise – a handclap will do. Hear the difference between a room with strong reflections and one with no reflections (anechoic chamber) The people that maintain our scenery database have some tools that automatically place thousands of objects at ground level, whenever a new scenery build is initiated (and thus likely changing the elevation, due to more accurate elevation data being used). An option to just place them at terrain altitude would be useful. So for one object it took a bit of trial and error to get this right. When placing the object you need to enter the altitude above MSL. You can move the tower-view around though, by clicking in the scenery, maybe that's slightly better than flying around in the UFO? This does require a little hack though, more info at our wiki. There is no slew mode, so I had quite some trouble to view my objects after placing. Nice blogpost Arno! Or, you could launch straight into having your students fill in their multiplication chart up to 12 x 12 from scratch. You could start with a blank multiplication table chart up to 100 – either with or without the factors marked on the far left column and top row – and have children fill them in themselves.By then showing students the multiplication calculation 7 x 9 = 63 this then shows them that 9 and 7 are factors of 63. Using a multiplication chart in 6th gradeįor 6th Grade, when introducing the potentially confusing subject of lowest common multiples and highest common factors, multiplication charts are a simple pictorial representation of what is meant by a multiple or factor.įor example, looking at the 7 times table will highlight what numbers are factors of 7. Using a multiplication chart in 4th or 5th gradeĪt 4th grade and above, students will be reinforcing what was learned in lower grades – so a multiplication chart is perfect for those students still lagging a little ways behind.ĭue to their pictorial nature, they are also excellent tools to help kids with special educational needs. It can be an excellent tool to introduce students in 3rd grade to multiplication and division facts, showing them the relationship between these two operations.įor example that 2 x 3 = 6 and that 6 ÷ 2 = 3. Using a multiplication chart in 3rd grade Here are a few ideas to use your multiplication charts to practice your students’ multiplication skills. Whether you use a pre completed multiplication chart or a blank one will depend on your needs in class, but they are versatile enough to use across all age groups. Treasuring multiplication facts and making mastery of multiplication a central feature of your school’s culture is a key way to get ahead of the times tables game. Multiplication facts are the building blocks of so many elements of mathematics, and if you believe in the systematic teaching of these facts, then you should believe in the value of the humble multiplication chart. Schrödinger highly esteemed Hasenöhrl and attended his lectures on theoretical physics five days a week for eight successive semesters. Friedrich Hasenöhrl’s brilliant inaugural lecture on the work of his predecessor made a powerful impression on Schrödinger. In 1907, during his third semester at the University of Vienna, he began to attend lectures in theoretical physics, which had just been resumed after a nearly two-year interruption following the death of Boltzmann. He did not, however, neglect his studies. He kept an album containing programs of the performances he had seen and made extensive annotations on them. I liked the German poets, especially the dramatists, but hated the scholastic dissection of their works.”Īs a student Schrödinger regularly attended the theater in Vienna and was a passionate admirer of Franz Grillparzer. I hated only memorizing ‘chance’ historical and biographical dates and facts. I liked mathematics and physics, but also the rigorous of the ancient grammers. Schrödinger wrote: “I was a good student, regardless of the subject. As was then customary, the curriculum emphasized Latin and Greek, the sciences being somewhat neglected. In the fall of 1898 Schrödinger entered the highly regarded academic Gymnasium in Vienna. In Vienna an elementary school teacher came to his home twice a week to tutor him but, in Schrödinger’s opinion, his “friend, teacher, and tireless partner in conversation” was his father. Schrödinger attended public elementary school only once, for a few weeks in Innsbruck, while his parents were on vacation. He married the daughter of Alexander Bauer, professor of chemistry at the Technische Hochschule in Vienna Erwin was their only child. After studying chemistry he turned to his real interests-painting and, later, botany-and published a series of scientific papers in the Abhandlungen and Verhandlungen der Zoologisch-botanischen Gesellschaft in Wien. Schrödinger’s father, Rudolf Schrödinger, inherited an oilcloth factory, which, although run in an old-dashioned manner, was successful enough to free him of financial worries. When you set up HomeKit, Siri knows what's connected, and without opening the Home app, you can ask the virtual assistant to turn devices on or off, adjust temperature, set scenes, check connected cameras and more if you have the right Apple TV, HomePod or iPad set up. Or, if you have a motion sensor hooked up, you can also set lights or other connected devices to turn on or off when motion is detected in a certain area of your home. These scenes can be activated automatically at a set time, or when certain conditions are met.įor instance, at bedtime, you can set HomeKit to lock your front door, turn off all of your lights and lower your thermostat to your ideal sleeping temperature. HomeKit lets you create custom scenes that will trigger a number of devices at the same time. What are scenes, and how do you create them? Some filters we can apply to our photos are sepia, black-and-white, blur, saturation, style, HDR, heat map, inverted colors, cinemascope, smooth, pixelate, polaroid, comics, and more. Some of the tweaks that can be applied are: crop, straighten, remove red-eye, correct color and brightness, add text, repair any flaws, and adjust the ambient light in the photo. The program also allows us to apply tweaks and filters to images and photographs. We can use the "collage" created by default or change the position of the photos in the "collage." We can save the "collage" as an image or desktop background. We can create a video or upload the result directly to YouTube.Īnother feature that stands out is the possibility of creating a "photo collage." Just press the button "Create a photo collage," and it will display an image with all the photos in the folder or Album overlapping each other. By clicking on the button " Create a video presentation," a screen appears in which we can choose the type of transition that will be shown between each image, background music, resolution, and the list of images that will appear in the presentation. In addition, we can create video presentations using the photos contained in folders or albums. So we need to press the " Play" button that is located below the name of the albums or directories. We can create slideshows with photos contained in directories and albums. However, in Picasa, we can create a new album called " Ibiza 2014 Photos" that includes all the photographs of both cameras. So we will know what pictures are taken with John's camera and which others are taken with Peter's camera. For example, we have two directories on the hard disk: " Ibiza 2014 Photos John Camera" and " Ibiza 2014 Photos Peter Camera". This is very useful if we wish to put pictures in separate folders on the hard disk but simultaneously want to display them together. We need to assign a name to the Album and select the photos we want to include. It's a great way to order and classify our photos. We can add tags to all our photos, so if we click on any tag, all the photos with that tag will be listed. This way, we can travel using Google Earth map and see the photos were taken in the location we are navigating. If we have Google Earth software installed, we can use the option " Geotags with Google Earth" and locate the photo in the place it was taken. The program allows us to tag and recognizes the people's faces in the photos this way, by clicking on a person's name, we can see all the photos that appear. The program creates a default Album labeled " Recently Updated," which contains the images or pictures that have been added or modified recently. If we prefer, we can configure the program only to scan the "My Pictures" folder because maybe this folder is the only one that contains images of our interest.įolders scanned by the program will be monitored, so if we add any new image or photo to these folders, the program will automatically update the list of images in those folders. If we click on any directory, it will show the thumbnail of pictures in it. Once the images are located, we can see a list of all directories that contain images.
